Woodland

2021

The starting point for the Woodland series derives from walking in the ancient woodlands near where I live. I have documented these woods for many years, observing the changes and shifts throughout the seasons. I collect and gather natural materials and search for the quiet understated details in nature to use as a springboard for creating new ceramic works. Wagashi, confectionary in Japan, known for its delicateness and variety in appearance, inspires my colour palette of pastel shades. I am seduced by the beauty and endless possibilities of colour combinations I can create in clay.
