2020
- a thing regarded as resembling an island, especially in being isolated, detached, or surrounded in some way.
“ In 2009 I did a residency at Cove Park, Scotland. During my time there, I created ‘islands’ using plaster. I have returned to making singular stand alone forms using thickened liquid clay (bone china casting slip) . I pour a layer onto a plaster batt, wait for it to settle until it is ready for the next pour. It is a slow process, there is an element of control yet it can be unpredictable. I enjoy working this way. Island, 2020 is an imaginary world, a playful mix of components in pastel shades and surfaces ”.
